Laura and Ben

You don’t get many weddings like this. Laura and Ben are perfectly suited and delightfully eccentric, so when it came to them getting married, I knew it was going to be something special.
This one was heavy on the steam-punk and contained top hats, tails, pirate flags, a VW Camper, beards, plaits, glorious sunshine, an amazing kiss, cream tea and cakes, a gramophone DJ, pouring rain, the Clifton suspension bridge, a cemetery, a roast pig, hot air balloons, fire dancing and fireworks.
It’s also the first wedding where I got to use the bridal umbrella I bought 3 years ago!

Fantasy shoot

Today I met up with a group of models and photographers in the glorious Bristol sunshine, under the scaffolding clad Cabot Tower.

The theme of the shoot was fantasy, so dreamy shots in a natural background were the order of the day. I’ve also been wanting to do a photoshoot in some daffodils for ages!

Sophie has such vivid eyes that I couldn’t help concentrating my shooting on them – they really pop out of the photos without any real help from photoshop.

These were all shot with my Canon 50mm f/1.4 – I’m starting to get a feel for the prime lenses now – this could be an expensive habit…

Light workshop

This weekend I went to a lighting workshop, run by the very talented Alex Beckett

I’ve done a lot of photography using off camera flash, but it never hurts to brush up on your skills and I came away feeling I’d learned something. Plus, the excellent lunch alone was worth the price!
